Hochstein Youth Wind Symphony

On February 12, 2022, at the Hochstein school of Music, the Youth Wind Symphony will play their concert at 7:30 pm. The Youth Wind Symphony includes grades 9-12 who practice every Saturday for 6 weeks from 12:00-2:00. Instruments in the band include advanced woodwind, percussion, and brass. The band plays New York State School Music Association’s (NYSSMA) levels V and VI music, the two highest levels in NYSSMA. The band is conducted by John Rolland, who has been working with Hochstein since 2012. Three students from Wheatland have been selected to participate in the wind symphony: Nathaniel Fals on the euphonium, Scout Brandes and Lauren Nelson on the French horn.
Scout Brandes – French Horn Accomplishments:
Has played the French horn for eight years.
Participated in the Junior Wind Symphony for two years.
First year participating in the Youth Wind Symphony
Nat Fals – Euphonium Accomplishments:
Has played the euphonium for eight years.
Participated in the Youth Wind Symphony for two years.
Third year in the Youth Wind Symphony.
Accepted five years to All County Band.
One year in Area All State Band.
Lauren Nelson – French Horn Accomplishments:
Has played the French horn for seven years.
Participated in the Junior Wind Symphony for two years.
Second year in the Youth Wind Symphony.
Participated in All-County Band for two years.
Participated in the Area All-State Band for one year.
The concert is open to anyone, so feel free to come on out and support these students!
